What: Special Keg Tapping: Stone/BrewDog Bashah
When: Thursday, 12/17/09, All Damn Day
Where: Bar Great Harry, 280 Smith Street, Brooklyn, NY
In what will become a new semi-regular happening at BGH, we are celebrating the tapping of a new, ultra-rare, hard-to-find keg: Stone-BrewDog Bashah! Some of the Stone brewers flew out to the UK to hang with the youngbloods at BrewDog. Together, after much inebriation and a little bit of brewing, they created a black Belgian double IPA, named the Bashah. Come have some and tell us what you think. It’ll go quick!
See you there!

What: BGH Holiday Party
When: Sunday, 12/20/09, 6PM-10PM
Where: Bar Great Harry, 280 Smith Street, Brooklyn, NY
We hope you can join us for our third annual BGH Holiday Party. What makes it special? For starters, we will have two or three $2 drafts, as we’ve done in the past.
At around 8:30 we will have a White Elephant Exchange. Google it if you don’t know what it is. It is fun as hell, especially after people get some drinks in them. The nice thing about it is that it takes almost no prep work. If you want to be involved, just show up with a gift. Keep it under $20 and show up by 8PM.
We’re hoping that we can have a mini pinball tourney if a few people want to play. We’ll have to feel this one out, but if we can do it, then we will put up a bar tab or something for the winner.
Lastly, there will be snacks of some sort. Not sure what they’ll be, but they will be tasty.
See you there!

Beers:
- Bittersweet Lenny’s R.I.P.A. / NY / 10% / 12oz
- Genesis / NY / 5.6% / 16oz
- Jewbelation 12 / NY / 12% / 12oz

Conceived in San Francisco and brewed in New York, He’Brew has been making The Chosen Beer since 1996. Founder Jeremy Cowan had the idea of starting a craft beer brand that adhered to the standards set by the Kosher Supervision of America (KSA). All He’Brew beers meet these requirements. Obviously, the Kosher label doesn’t mean that they cannot be crazy-ass beers. A quick look at the list will tell you that the folks at He’Brew produce everything from highly sessionable browns to fruit beers to high ABV American strong ales. Enjoy.
As usual, prices will be nices and the meat and cheese will be free.

What: Sixpoint Brewery Tour, Tasting, and After Party
When: Tuesday, 12/22/09, 6PM-10PM
Where:
- Sixpoint Brewery, 40 Van Dyke Street, Brooklyn, NY 11231
- Bar Great Harry, 280 Smith Street, Brooklyn, NY
BGH and Sixpoint are teaming up for a special holiday event. The evening starts with everyone who signs up meeting at BGH at 6PM. We will take vans down to the Sixpoint Brewery. There we will hang with the Sixpoint folks, get a little tour, and drink fresh Sixpoint beer right from the tanks!
At this point the plan gets a little weird. If it is snowing, we are going to get to-go cups from Sixpoint and walk up to BGH. Sounds like fun in the snow, no? However, if it is not snowing, or if it turns silly cold, then we will just get vans back. At BGH we will have a few cool Sixpoint beers on draft. And they will be cheap.
A few important things to keep in mind. We can only bring 25 people, so email us if you want to go. First 25 get in.
Also, if you sign up, then you have to be at BGH at 6PM. We’re taking vans, so we can’t be waiting around for stragglers. Of course, if you live in Red Hook, then meet us at the brewery and wait outside for a bunch of idiots in vans to pull up.
See you there!

What: Winter Blackout: Night of the Big Stouts
When: Tuesday, 12/1/09, 6PM-10PM
Where: Bar Great Harry, 280 Smith Street, Brooklyn, NY
Beers:
- Brooklyn Intensified Coffee Stout (CASK) / NY / 8% / 12oz
- Dogfish Head World Wide Stout / DE / 18%+ / 8oz
- Flying Dog Gonzo Imperial Porter / MD / 9.8% / 12oz
- Goose Island Bourbon County Stout (2008) / IL / 13% / 8oz
- Goose Island Night Stalker (2008) / IL / 11.7% / 8oz
- Great Divide Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout / CO / 9.5% / 12oz
- Long Trail Imperial Porter / VT / 8% / 12oz
- Southern Tier Jah-Va Imperial Coffee Stout / NY / 11% / 12oz
- Weyerbacher Heresy (2008) / PA / 8% / 12oz
Time to warm up with some big-ass stouts, folks. We’ve been sitting on a few of these kegs for a while now, saving them for a special event. The time has come.
Some words of warning: You should probably eat a lot before hitting this event. We will, of course, have meat and cheese, but this is a seriously high ABV event. Four of these beers have the volume cranked to eleven or higher. And the World Wide Stout goes way, way, way over that. Please drink these responsibly.
As usual, prices will be nices and the meat and cheese will be free.
See you there!
