WTFuck have we done?

I realized this morning that we’ve posted a lot of negative shit about the bar: how ugly it was, how shit was filthy, etc. We really haven’t told you what we’ve accomplished. So let’s take a look.

• The bar is about 70% done. The walnut face and kickboard are up. The top will be installed Monday or Tuesday and then it gets stained and finished. It is now much, much more solid. This was all Nick.

• The walls are painted. We struggled with little color swatches, painted four sample reds, and finally settled on Posh Red with a satin finish. It was the darkest of the bunch by far and is what we had in mind when we started this whole thing. This was us and our father.
• The new tables are drying. This was mostly done by our father. He made them from scratch out of Birch and they are berry, berry nice. We are popping them atop the old bases, which are black metal.
• The new banquette has been fabricated. It is black. This comes from Beatrice from Atlantis found.
• The new stool tops — I cannot resist using the phrase “stool sample” every time I can — are done. They also come from Beatrice.
• The curtains are sewn up and waiting to be hung. These also come from Beatrice.
• The bathrooms and back hallway are painted. We went grey for the bathrooms and they look slick. I am obsessed with the idea of making every single surface in the bathroom, including the entire toilet and sink, grey. Unfortunately, I have not figured out how to paint the inside of a toilet so this is unlikely to happen. The back room is the same Posh Red. This was Ben and I.
• The jukebox is working.
• The BGH is on the wall outside. See the previous post about this project. This was Ben, Will, Dave, and I.
• The outside of the bar is black. Yes, we decided to paint it black. See post coming in about 20 minutes.
• All plumbing and electricity is perfect. There were a few outlets in need of attention and we popped in a new toilet in one of the bathrooms.
